    Taj Mahal

    Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world which is situated on the left bank of River Yamuna in the Indian state of  Uttar Pradesh. The Taj Mahal is a Mughal mausoleum which was commissioned by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the year 1631 and got completed in the year 1648 using finest white marble bought from a small town in Rajasthan (neighbouring state). This mesmerising monument was built by the emperor after the death of his favorite and loving wife, Mumtaz Mahal as her last resting place. The walls of the Taj Mahal are decorated with precious and semi-precious stones inlaid in black marble which adds more beauty to the monument. The monument is surrounded by two similar looking halls, lush green gardens, pathways, water-channels and fountains.

    Red Fort

    The Red Fort of Agra Fort is a massive fortress which was constructed by Mughal Emperor Akbar in the year 1573 using red sandstone. The fort was the seat of power for Mughals until the year 1638 when Akbar decided to shift the capital from Agra to Delhi. This majestic fort is situated on the right banks of River Yamuna and was permanent residence of royal family until 1638. Later, over the period of time different successors added more to the fort so you may see the newer parts of the fort are made up using white marble.

    Itmad-Ud-Daulah

    Itmad-Ud-Daulah is another Mughal mausoleum which was built by Nur Jahan, wife of Mughal Emperor Jahangir in the loving memory of his father. The complex is inspired by Indo-Islamic architecture which adds more charm to the monument. In addition to this, the main attraction of this monument is the inner roof which is decorated with mirror work and colors of precious and semi-precious stones. As per legends, this monument is the idea behind the Taj Mahal hence, the monument is also known as “Baby Taj”.

    Mehtab Bagh

    Mehtab Bagh is a beautiful lush green garden which was constructed by first Mughal Emperor Babur in the mid 14th century and is the last out of 11 royal gardens built by him on the banks of the river. The garden overlooks the Taj Mahal in the north and Agra Fort in the opposite direction. Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan declared this garden as one of the best ideal places to admire the beauty of Taj. The garden is well-decorated with symmetrical pathways, flower beds, water channels, fountains and trees.
