Amber Fort
Being the most visited fort in Jaipur, Amber Fort was originally founded by Raja Alan Singh of Meena Clan in 967 CE. However, under the rule of Kuchwaha Rulers the fort was renovated and a nearby area was developed. The major development of the fort took place under the rule of Raja Man Singh in the year 1592. This massive fort is built using yellow sandstone and marble which adds more charm to this monument. The main attraction of this fort is the main assembly courtyard, Sheesh Mahal or Mirror Palace, Ganesh Pol (a door decorated with colors of gemstone and gold-plated leaf’s) and the Man Singh Palace. City Palace
When the capital was moved to Jaipur in 1727, Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II ordered the construction of City Palace in 1729 and it was completed in 1732. Since then, the City Palace has been the ruling seat of the Jaipur empire. The palace is well-dotted with grand pillars, carved marble and lattice-worked architecture which attracts millions of footfalls annually. There are several halls, courtyards, museums for textiles and weapons along with a 7-storey building (Chandra Mahal) where the royal family resides. Along with this, there are 4 different themed doors which adds more charm to the palace.
Hawa Mahal
Due to the “Parda culture” of Rajput’s, the royal women used to keep their faces covered in front of other men. Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh built this beautiful palace with 953 lattice worked windows in the year 1799 for the royal women. The palace was used by the royal women to enjoy the daily activities of the bazaars and the commons. These windows restrict the outsiders to see inside and provide privacy to the royal ladies. Jantar Mantar
Maharaj Sawai Jai Singh II was fond of astronomy and due to this he constructed this monument in the year 1729. Jantar Mantar has a mixture of different sized structures made of bronze and brass which were used to calculate the positions of celestial bodies. He built 5 such monuments in North India in which Jaipur’s Jantar Mantar is the largest and most accurate. It is the home of the world’s largest sundial as well. Nahargarh Fort
Third and the top most fort of Jaipur, Nahargarh Fort was constructed in 1734 by Sawai Jai Singh II as a summer retreat and defensive fortress for Jaipur’s kingdom. Over the period of time, several successors have added and renovated the fort among which Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh work was well praised. This is a 2-storey fort with several luxury suites, beautiful pavilions and a glass palace which draw most of the attention.
Jaigarh Fort
Situated on a hill above the Amber Fort, Nahargarh Fort was built in 1726 by Sawai Jai Singh II as a defensive or military fort to safeguard the territory from invaders. There are several quarters showcasing the old pictures, weapons, armory, carts and attires of different kings. Along with this, Jaigarh Fort had a cannon factory where the world’s largest cannon – Jaivan Cannon was built and still preserved for the tourists. Jaigarh Fort provides an amazing panoramic view of the Aravalli Hills and Amber Fort.
Jal Mahal
Positioned in the middle of Man Sagar Lake, Jal Mahal is a private property of the royal family which was used as a hunting lodge in the bygone days. The 4-storeys of the palace are submerged in the lake and only one floor is above the water level which makes it more beautiful. The palace has marvelous luxury suites, fascinating pavilions and an open-air garden. You can walk by the shore and take pictures. You may take a small halt while driving from Jaipur to Amber Fort.
Panna Meena Kund

Panna Meena Kund is an ancient step-well which was renovated in the early 16th century; however, there is no actual date of its existence. It is said that the well was built by the Meena Clan of Amber way back in the 9th century. There were several uses of step-wells like storing water, resting place for pilgrims, chit-chat place for homemakers, etc. The well has 3500 steps to reach down at the bottom which has now closed for the tourists. Patrika Gate

Birla Mandir
Birla Mandir is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and her consort Radha Rani. The temple was built by B.M Birla foundation in the year 1988 on the land provided by the royal family at Rs 1. The temple is beautifully built using pure white marble and on the foothills of Moti Doongri Fort owned by the royal family of Jaipur.
