Kirti Mandir
Kirti Mandir is one of the most important tourist places in Porbandar. It is located on Kasturba Road and is known as the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. This memorial includes his ancestral house and a museum. Gandhi was born here on October 2, 1869. You can see his room, personal items, and photographs from his early life. The place also has a library and prayer hall built in 1950 to remember Gandhi’s life and work.
Huzoor Palace
Huzoor Palace was built by Rana Natwarsinhji in the early 1900s. The palace is located on Marine Drive and shows European-style architecture. It has large gardens, beautiful fountains, and neoclassical columns. Though the palace is privately owned and not open for entry, you can view its grand structure from outside, especially during sunset when the building looks golden under the evening light.
Sudama Mandir
Sudama Mandir is near Kirti Mandir and is dedicated to Sudama, the best friend of Lord Krishna. Built between 1902 and 1907 by Shri Ram Devji Jethwa, the temple has carved marble pillars and a famous maze. The maze is believed to help devotees feel peaceful when they walk through it. Inside the temple, there is also a beautiful mural showing Krishna washing Sudama’s feet.
Porbandar Bird Sanctuary
Porbandar Bird Sanctuary is a special tourist place in Porbandar. It is located in the middle of the city and is known for its variety of birds.
