    Kashi Vishwanath Temple

    Kashi Vishwanath Temple is situated on the western banks of the river Ganges and is one of the 12 jyotirlingas present in the country. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is present here in the form of Vishwanatha which means “Lord of the Universe ». The temple holds great history as it was attacked multiple times by Mughals however, later re-built by Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century. The main attraction of this temple is the 800 kgs of gold plated on the temple tower, hence the temple is also known as “Golden Temple of Uttar Pradesh ».

    Ganges Aarti is the most beautiful part of the city where thousands of people gather together at Dashashwamedh Ghat to worship the holy river Ganges.     Dashashwamedh Ghat

    Dashashwamedh Ghat is one of the most popular ghats in Varanasi which is visited by every tourist.     Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir

    Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple is one of the famous Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman. This temple was constructed in the year 1900 by renowned freedom fighter Pandit Madam Mohan Malviya. You can see several playful monkeys in this temple!

    Assi Ghat

    Assi Ghat is another beautiful ghat which is present close to Hindu Banaras University. This is the ghat where River Assi meets River Ganges.     Manikarnika Ghat

    Manikarnika Ghat is one of the most sacred and important ghats in Varanasi which is believed to be the best and holiest place to get cremated. It is said that one who gets cremated here gets moksha from the cycle of rebirth and attain freedom. You can see hundreds of people getting cremated here every day hence, the ashes here do not even get cooled down.     Sarnath

    Sarnath is a small town situated at a distance of 10 kms from Varanasi which is believed to be the first place where Lord Buddha delivered his first speech after attaining enlightment. The whole place is well-decorated with historical marvels, Buddhist stupas, museums holding some of the rare articles and collections, ancient temples and devotees who come from every part of the world. The place is dated back to the 2nd century as you can see Ashoka’s pillar which was built by Great Emperor Ashoka.

    New Vishwanath Temple is the replica of the main Kashi Vishwanath Temple, situated in the heart of lush green campus of Banaras Hindu University.
