Day 1: Arrival at IGI Airport, Delhi
We welcome you at one of the best International Airport in Asia, IGI Airport, New Delhi, where you will be welcomed by a representative of Custom Tours India. You will be escorted to your respective chauffer and air-conditioned vehicle that will be with you during your travel in India.
On the way to your hotel, our representative and chauffer will tell you short stories about the city and about the daily life of locals. Along with this, you will be amazed to see the amazing Indian roads where everything is managed just perfectly even after having huge traffic conditions! Upon reaching your hotel, you will be assisted with your check-in.
Rest of the evening is free for leisure as you will be flying from a far distance.
Day 2: Local Sightseeing in Delhi
This day, you will be taken to explore the history and monuments of Delhi wherein you will be covering both Old and New Delhi along with an English-speaking tour guide.
Somewhere between 8:00am to 8:30 am, you will be introduced to your English Speaking tour guide who will be with you for the complete day taking care of everything.
We will start this day by exploring Old Delhi and its ancient historical monuments.
- Jama Masjid –We will start our day by visiting one of the oldest mosques in Delhi which was constructed by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1644 to 1658 using the famous red sandstone and inner walls using finest white marble. This historical monument in India was constructed with the help of 5000 workers brought from different parts of the world and the layout is influenced by Islamic and Persian architecture. In order to reach the main courtyard, you will need to climb 121 stairs as the mosque is built at an elevation of 10M which also makes it the largest mosque in India that can accommodate 25,000 devotees at one time.
Later, you will get the first wonderful experience of real India when you ride a rikshaw in the busy streets of Delhi’s oldest market – ChandiChawk. This will be a lifetime experience as you will be going inside narrow alleys where you will be exploring the daily life of local buyers and sellers. Please note, this market is famous for spices, textiles, sarees, jewelry and home décor articles.
- Red Fort –As the name suggests “Red Fort”, this important historical monument has been completely built using the fascinating red sandstone under the rule of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the year 1638 when he decided to move this capital from Agra to Delhi. It took 8 years for the construction which was inspired by Mughal, Persian and Hindu architecture however, Shah Jahan himself never resided in this fort as he was home arrested by his own son due to internal family matters. This fort has been the seat of power for Mughals for almost 200 years and is spread over a sprawling area of 255 acres.
Later, post these three activities we will proceed towards New Delhi and will explore a few other historical monuments.
Along with this, before heading to lunch, we will pass through two important historical buildings of India –India Gate and Parliament House.
- India Gate –India Gate is one of the most happening spots in Delhi which was constructed in 1921 to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who lost their lives during the first World War I. This monument was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. Later, there was an addition to this monument that was “Amar Jawan Jyoti”, another historical monument for the brave and fierce soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the battle of 1971 between India and Pakistan.
- Rashtrapati Bhawan – Rashtrapati Bhawan or Parliament House is another important government building of India which is the home of India’s President. Parliament house was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in the year 1931 which was supposed to be the seat of power for the British in Delhi with 340 luxury rooms, 75 lobbies, 37 fountains, main complex, President’s Garden or Mughal Gardens and several courtyards
Post these two sites, we will take you for lunch at one of the famous restaurants of the city where you can have the flavors of Delhi’s cuisines. Later, you will be taken to explore the remaining important monuments of Delhi.
- Humayun’s Tomb –Humayun’s Tomb is one of the finest examples of Mughal architecture and the first even Garden Tomb of India. This historical monument of India was constructed by Haji Begam as the final resting place for her husband and Mughal Emperor Humayun, also known as Jahangir. This monument was built in 1565 using the red sandstone and white marble that was inspired by Mughal, Hindu and Persian architecture. The main complex or tomb is surrounded by lush green flower beds, pathways, water channels and fountains. As per legends, Humayun Tomb is the inspiration behind the world-famous Taj Mahal.
- Qutub Minar–Qutub Minar is the oldest historical monument in Delhi which was constructed under the Mughal Era by Qutub-Ud-Din-Aibak as the establishment of the Mughal era in Delhi in 1193. This minaret is the Longest Minaret in India with a height of 73m. The minaret consists of 5 floors in which the first three floors are made up of red sandstone and the remaining top 2 floors were built later by successors using white marble. The main attraction of this monument is the “Rust resistant Iron Pillar” which was constructed here by Great Emperor Ashoka during the 2nd and 3rd
Later, you are free to do your own leisure activities. If you wish to dine outside, please feel free to ask your driver.
Day 3: Drive to Agra and Local sightseeing
Today, after you finish your breakfast and check-out procedure, we will head towards our next destination of this amazing Golden Triangle Tour.
We will drive through the newly constructed Yamuna-Expressway to reach our destination – Agra, the city of Taj Mahal.
On reaching this ancient Mughal capital, we will directly stop at one of the famous restaurants where you can have the taste of Agra’s flavors and cuisines. Later, we will check-in at your hotel.
Rest for a while and then you will be able to visit one of the famous garden and best point to take pictures of Taj Mahal from backside.
- Mehtab Bagh –Mehtab Bagh is the most visited tourist garden in India which was constructed by first Mughal Emperor Babur in early 14th century and is the last of eleven gardens built by him alongside a river. Later, Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan also recognized this garden as the ideal place to admire the beauty of the Taj Mahal, hence another name was given to this garden known as “Moonlight Pleasure Garden”. The garden is beautifully decorated with lush green flower beds, water channels, straight pathways and fountains.
Later, you will be transferred back to your hotel where you can spend your evening at your room or by the pool.
Day 4: Taj Mahal and Drive to Jaipur
This morning will be the best mornings of your life when you witness the majestic and fascinating Taj Mahal in front of you. We always recommend our clients to visit the Taj Mahal early in the morning before sunrise as this is the best time to view the Taj and we do have very less traffic.
So, here your English-speaking tour guide will meet you at your hotel lobby at 5:45am and then you will be taken to visit the Taj Mahal.
Please note that your tour guide knows all the best points to take pictures, so he/she will assist you with beautiful pictures of you and the Taj Mahal.
- Taj Mahal – Majority of people in the world consider this beautiful building as “Symbol of Love”, Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world that was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the loving memory of his favourite wife, Mumtaj Mahal in the year 1653. It took almost 22 years and the hands of 20,000 workers to build this marvellous unique monument. The monument consists of three main entry doors at the east, west and south corner whereas, the main mausoleum stands on a marble platform towards the northern end, facing its back towards the river Yamuna. Along with this, there are two symmetrical red sandstone buildings on each side of the main complex.
Later, return back to your hotel where you can have your leisurely breakfast and then complete your check-out process in order to proceed towards the next city – Jaipur.
The drive from Agra to Jaipur will be through a well-maintained national highway and the drive will be for almost 4.5 hours. On the way, we will stop for lunch at one of the neat and clean mid-way.
On the way to Jaipur, we will take a short stop at one of the ancient Mughal sites – Fatehpur Sikri.
- Fatehpur Sikri – Fatehpur Sikri is an ancient walled city which was founded by Mughal Emperor Akbar in the year 1571. Fateh means “Victory”and pur means “city” so Akbar gave this Sikri village a new name after he won the battle here, Fatehpur Sikri. Along with this, there was Sufi Saint Salim Chisti, who predicted the birth of Akbar’s first son, Salim later known as So, Akbar built a fortress here for his three wives, a mosque for the Sufi Saint and lived here for almost 10 years. The palace is beautifully built using red sandstone and the mosque is one of the largest mosques in India.
Later, we will continue our drive towards the last destination Jaipur, also known as “The Pink City”.
On reaching, check-in at the hotel and the rest of the evening is free at leisure. If you plan to dine outside, please feel free to ask your driver.
Day 5: Local Sightseeing in Jaipur
This day, it will be the best day of your Golden Triangle Tour as Jaipur is the home of the few of the finest monuments, palaces, temples and bazaars which are well-known all over the world.
This morning, have your leisurely breakfast and then you will be escorted with our English-speaking tour guide who will explain to you the history and stories about Jaipur and all the monuments you will be exploring.
- Hawa Mahal –Hawa Mahal is the Hindi meaning of “Wind Palace” or the “Palace of Wind” which is situated in the heart of Jaipur. Hawa Mahal was constructed by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in the year 1799 for the royal women so that they can sit behind the lattice worked windows and see what’s happening in the bazaars. These windows restrict the person from outside to see inside the window, thus providing privacy to the royal women. There are 953 windows in the historical monument of India and is built in the shape of Lord Krishna’s crown as the king was a great devotee of Lord Krishna.
- Jal Mahal – Jal Mahal is the Hindi meaning of “Water Palace” or “Palace on Water” which is situated in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. As per legends, Jal Mahal was constructed in the year 1699 however, later it was renovated and rebuilt in the 18th century by Sawai Jai Singh II of Amber. Jal Mahal is a private property which is still under the possession of Jaipur’s royal family and was used as a hunting lodge for royal guests of the king in early times. The palace has luxurious suite rooms, pathways and an open-air garden. This palace has 5 floors in which three floors are submerged in the water whereas, the remaining two floors are above the water level.
Please note that both the sites will be covered from outside and there will be a stop of 15-20 minutes each so that you can walk and take some good pictures.
- Amber Fort –Amber Fort is located at a distance of 11 kms from Jaipur on a hill in Amber, Rajasthan. This massive fort was constructed in the year 1592 by Maharaja Man Singh I as a residence fort for the royal family. Later, many other features and structures were added by Sawai Jai Singh I during his reign and was the seat of power for 150 years before the capital was shifted from Amber to Jaipur in the year 1727. The fort is inspired by Mughal and Hindu architecture that is built using pale yellow, white marble and pink sandstone. The main attraction of this fort is the Ganesh Pol, Mirror Palace, Man Singh Palace where the king’s room was inter-connected with the rooms of his 12 queens through the private stair-cases.
Later in the afternoon, we will come back to Jaipur to explore the remaining important tourist sites in Jaipur. Before that, we will take a short break at one of the restaurants where you can have some mouth-watering dishes and flavors of Jaipur.
- City Palace –City Palace is one of the most visited palaces in India which was built between 1729 to 1734 when the capital of Jaipur was shifted from Amber to Jaipur. City Palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II as the new seat of power of Jaipur’s royal family and has been the permanent residence of the family till date. Built in extremely beautiful Hindu, Mughal and European architectural design, City Palace has several big courtyards, museums, gateways and halls. The main attraction of this palace is the Pritam Niwas Chawk which has 4 highly decorated doors which represents 4 different seasons of India.
- Jantar Mantar –Jantar Mantar is another ancient site situated adjoining the City Palace, Jaipur which was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in the year 1729. Jantar Mantar was built in order to calculate the positions of astronomical bodies as the king has great interest in astrology. There are 19 structures built using stone and brass which helps us to check the position and time of these celestial bodies. Jantar Mantar also houses the world’s largest sundial which is the world’s most accurate sundial with the time difference of 2 seconds.
Later, if you have time, you may explore some of the local bazaars or head outside for dinner at one of the restaurants of the city.
